Macs n Cheese

You won’t buy a box again after you make this.   Does not take much longer and it is so much better!

Boil your macaroni- pick a fun shape- elbows, shells, rainbow….drain and cover til ready to add to your cheese sauce.

Melt 1/3 cup butter or margarine, add 1/3 cup flour and make your “roux”- pronounced ROO.  Add 2 cups of milk, one pound of American cheese in slices or cubes and melt.  Season with salt, pepper and a little nutmeg.    Once sauce is thick, add back your cooked pasta, stir and serve hot.  See, EASY!

  • 1 pound pasta, cooked according to directions
  • 1/3 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. black papper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pound American cheese
